“Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin”
The verse that started a wondering in me… Was Jesus talking about actually lilies? Or was there perhaps a different flower that would’ve been growing around His feet as He taught? Research led me to learn that in fact, He was likely referencing poppies. Vibrant and delicate poppies. I painted this piece as a reminder of God’s care for us. We too are vibrant and delicate. And He cares for us so much more than the flowers. The wavy, textured background in this piece is a reminder that though we are not fully kept from the anxieties of our world, they are greatly diminished when we spend time in His presence.
