Your Work is Happening Here

The job of a mother is captured in this painting. Dinner simmering on the stove, crayons scattering the counter, and an embrace that just couldn't wait. Motherhood often feels like work (because it is), and in a season with three little boys, I found myself overcome by the drudgery of it all. So overcome in fact, that I began to miss the sweet moments that I had once longed for. This painting takes what could be a frustrating, overstimulating moment- a whiny toddler in need of attention while dinner boils over on the stove- and enchants the scene- evidence of a mother at work.

16×20 oil on canvas

Framed in an antique wooden frame
